Raffy Ermac is a Los Angeles-based writer, editor, storyteller, red-carpet reporter, video creator, and multimedia journalist who loves to write about the intersections of culture, entertainment, and identity.
Raffy’s writing has appeared in numerous publications (both online and print), the likes of which include The State Press, Glide Magazine, Young Hollywood, Teen.com, and Complex.

Shortly after graduating college, Raffy was hired as an editorial assistant by The Advocate, one of the world’s oldest and most well-respected LGBTQ+ news organizations, where he wrote news stories and long-form features for their website. After a year at The Advocate, he was then made associate editor of their sister website PRIDE, where he helped oversee, manage, and edit a team of freelance writers while writing his own daily and long-form content. After serving as PRIDE‘s associate editor for a year, he was then promoted to the role of editor-in-chief, where he completely oversaw all editorial operations for the site for over four years.
In 2021, Raffy was then named the digital director of Out Magazine, where he was in charge of the entire digital presence of one of the world’s most prestigious lifestyle and culture publications for LGBTQ+ folks.
During his tenure, Raffy pushed Out to new heights, especially in the entertainment space. Under his guidance, Out became a Rotten Tomatoes-approved publication after his commitment to working with a diverse range of film and television critics. (He also became a Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer-approved critic in his own right.) Out‘s presence also became a fixture on many prestigious red-carpets and awards shows, like the 2023 and 2024 Oscars and Grammys ceremonies and countless film and television premieres, due to Raffy’s insistence that queer voices should always be in the room when it comes to major industry events.
In his daily work at Out, Raffy oversaw a small but mighty team of full-time editors and freelance contributors that helped the brand’s traffic and social goals continue to climb. In 2024 alone, Raffy conceived, assigned, edited, and wrote online content that brought 156 million pageviews and 22 million unique visitors to Out‘s website. He also conceived, assigned, and created original social content for Out‘s social media platforms, namely Instagram and TikTok, and helped Out‘s social following grow to a combined follower count of 1.7 million followers across all major social media platforms. Raffy did all this while still contributing to the print publication whenever needed, conducting on-camera junket interviews with major studios, and collaborating on long-term, tent-pole editorial projects (like the annual Out100 celebration).
All of that hard word really paid off, culminating in 2024 when Raffy and the entire Out editorial team won a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Magazine, Overall Coverage.

Fast forward to present day, and Raffy is now serving as the founding editor-in-chief of Gold Envelope, a completely independently-owned and operated pop culture/entertainment website that covers the industry’s most buzz-worthy talent all year long. At Gold Envelope, Raffy is continuing the work of highlighting the talent that often doesn’t get enough spotlight in media, and providing fun, unique, and engaging content that gets millions of likes and views on various social media platforms.
